A Personal Note from Pastor Jane
It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner, especially with this amazing fall (or is it summer) weather. Yet, as Jenna is here this week and we are preparing for her wedding on November 18th to Will, I KNOW the season is almost here!
I know for many to feel blessed and thankful is not easy as we go through difficult times, yet I want to encourage you to take a few moments and sit either outside or at a window looking out to God’s beauty, and write down 10 reasons you are blessed each week until Christmas. It may seem like a chore at first but I promise you it will help you stay focused on just how blessed you truly are. So how am I blessed this week?
- My office that overlooks the memorial gardens! I am watching butterfly by butterfly enjoy their special bushes and looking at the gardens (which are still thriving) in spite of the rain that falls. Oh, how I love sitting here!
- Our church staff that gives their all to serve and as we say “put out the fires” that often try to ignite in ministry. This includes Ruth, Nancy, Karen, Pastor Herb, Pastor Linda, Carolyn who works with our children each week; Debbie who takes care of our little ones; and yes, Rich who comes in several times a week to make a repair, clean up or pick up behind us. Thank God he is retired from the working world but thank God for many of YOU too that keep our church moving forward. Blessings, too many to count.
- Our bills at Preakness are paid friends and all needs are met because of the dedication and faithfulness of this family of believers.
My family and friends, who share their love, encouragement, and take care of me. Whether it is a call, card, email, text, visit, flowers, chocolate, or surprise, each act of love means so much to me and seems to come at the exact right time.
Chocolate, Amazon and Kohls, not necessarily in that order! I do not need to say more!
Christian Love Church and its ministry that brings “life” to 1441 Ratzer Road in too many ways to mention (even the drums)! Thank God they were led here to keep Preakness moving forward.
Grandchildren! A true gift from God as they love unconditionally! No wonder our Lord says “Let the little children come unto me and forbid them not, for such is the kingdom of heaven!”
Preakness Faith Community and how we have worked together as a Family of Believers to move forward each step of our 63 years together! I read that if someone is your friend for at least 6 months, they are no longer classified as a “friend” but instead “family”. That explains our church family!
Health! We all experience moments where our health goes up and down, and sometimes all around, but to just have another day to care, serve, believe and have fun, is another day of blessings!
Last, but not least, is my FAITH in JESUS CHRIST. I would not want to take this walk we call LIFE without JESUS. Through my life I always have His song and word in my heart; memories of past faith experiences; a desire to care, serve and believe; and many saints of the past and mentors presently that have shown me there is no other way!
So friends, take the time each week to jot down your list of thankfulness and I promise you that this season you will sense His spirit like never before and be eager to spread the true meaning of Thanksgiving and Christmas through Him.
Be blessed as you bless!
