September 2018 Newsletter

From the Laptop of Pastor Jane

Surprise! Surprise! As I write this, I wonder how many of you have experienced a “Surprise Party” given in your honor. I have been blessed to have a Baby Shower after Justin was born and was I sur-prised. My family said I must have been surprised as I arrived with Justin in a navy blue sweat suit instead of a typical baby blue outfit. I also was giv-en one when I was 50, which feels like just yester-day!

I remember enjoying both parties but what really touched my life was the effect of them afterwards. I felt very “special” and the memories of both those parties still impact my life today! I never re-alized how blessed I was by such amazing family and friends.

I also have had the privilege of giving surprise par-ties too and believe it or not, they too have impact-ed my life! What fun it was to make plans to make someone else feel special!

On Sunday, September 16th, Preakness will begin a new chapter in its life with many new surprises from the moment you drive in the parking lot, throughout the worship service, and yes even at lunch. Our theme “Stand Up and Be Counted” will not only honor Our Lord but also all those that are present! A new beginning, YES, but one that will have surprises each time we gather!

Yet, in order to share in the sur-prises, you need to be present and also be excited to share these surprises with others too! See you this Sunday and next as we prepare for September 16th! There is much to do! Company is coming! Are you ready?
