June 2018 Newsletter

From the Laptop of Pastor Jane

No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you:

to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Micah 6:8

What a beautiful morning to be reflecting as the sun is shining and we can honestly say “spring (or summer) is here”! I don’t know about you but it is so comforting to see the flowers blooming, people taking walks or sitting on their porches, birds singing their songs and a bless-ing to see smiles on many faces!

During the month of May we had the opportunity at Preakness to reflect and honor the Godly Woman in our life and in His word. This month on Father’s Day, we will do the same with a video presentation, special music which we know you will all enjoy, and some remi-niscing of the Godly Men who have touched and changed our life.

Have you ever taken time to sit and write down at least the top 10 men and women who have inspired you? It really is a meaningful exercise and if you really want to see a glimpse of yourself, write what each per-son has shown or taught you. You will be amazed at just how much one person can impact another.

The exercise is also a great lesson to show that our actions, our words, our deeds in life play an important role in the life of many others! I remember when Justin was just about 2 years old, I asked him to do something and he put his finger up and said, “one minute Mom”. Now as parents we often would get annoyed when our children did not “jump” when we asked them to do something, however, in that short moment I saw Justin copying what I would do so often to him “one minute Justin”. And to think he was only 2 and he was already modeling my actions.

Sadly in our world, many are following in the foot-steps of others but are they of Godly Men and Woman who inspire, encourage, and love with unconditional hearts? Perhaps we should ask ourselves the question “is our actions and words that of Godly Men and Wom-an who touch the lives of others in the name of Our Lord”? Are we the role models that reflect our faith? Would we be on someone’s top 10 list that inspired an-other?

I encourage you to take time to write your list, give thanks for the many Godly men and woman God has placed in your path and remember you have been called as a model for Our Lord! It is a high calling friends but one we are all expected to answer!

Blessings Always, Pastor Jane
