January 2019 Newsletter

We Care! We Serve! We Believe!

From the Laptop of Pastor Jane

Blessings to all! As I was reading my devotions for January 1st, I came across a simple poem:

God divided our life into years

To free us from our past tears

He gives us a New Year’s inning

To offer us a new beginning

He opens His forgiving heart

And provides a fresh start

He is always faithful and true

So joyous New Year to You!

There is something about a new start that brings hope, peace, joy and love to us, even as we are gathered with family and friends New Year’s Eve, eating that last piece of chocolate, cake, or large meal before the New Year begins. Have you ever found yourself saying?

I’ll start that new diet on January 1st

I’ll go to church every week beginning in January?

I’ll read my Bible every day beginning January 1st

I’ll call that family member or friend in the New Year?

I’ll watch what I spend, starting in January, after the good sales after Christmas?

I’ll remove that clutter in the house in the New Year?

I’ll take care of my health in January?

I’ll finish that project I started in the New Year?

Well friends, tomorrow is here and how is that list going?

Just like you, friends, I had too much chocolate (way too much chocolate), still looking for the sales, my health is not just right, I have friends to call, and if there is anything I really need to de-clutter is this brain of mine!

As I begin the New Year, there was something good about being home sick with the “bug”, for it gave me some needed time to reflect on 2018 and the countless blessings I experienced with my fam-ily, friends and church family and realize that Jesus calls me to “begin again” each and every day. He has not stamped the date January 1st but instead reminds me that each day I have a new beginning to seek and experience His hope, peace, joy and love and share it wherever I go.

So am I making some changes? You bet, taking baby steps each and every day with the hope that I will use my hands and feet for His Kingdom and be the best I can be. I am thankful to be able to walk along side of you in 2019 and watch where the Lord takes each of us! Remember, each day we have a new start for Him!

See you at church Sunday! I’ll be the one with the water bottle!
