December 2019 Newsletter

We Care! We Serve! We Believe

From the Laptop of Pastor Jane

Dear Friends,

The Thanksgiving and Advent season is fast approach-ing for 2019 and we certainly can sense it through the change of weather in two short days. Burr!!! This woman who loves to wear “flip flops” is now in her sneakers and to be honest, cannot warm up too quick-ly. No wonder why my daughter Jenna loves Corpus Christi.

Yet, I must confess in spite of the cold, I love the change of seasons and a warm fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book. In fact, I love “snow days” even as I get older, yet by February I will be ea-ger for the spring like many of you.

This season is always special because it reminds me how blessed I am through the countless family and friends that share life with me. I hold my family at Preakness very close to my heart and once again look forward to worshiping and serving with you this Holy Season. Oh, how I love to walk into our Sanctuary with the Christmas lights and sense His presence. I hope you will join us this season as we come to worship Our Lord, the Baby Jesus.

November 24th

  • Commitment and Communion
  • Sunday 10:30 a.m.
  • “Open Hands and Open Hearts”

A long time tradition at Preakness to come to His table, remember Our Lord and His sacrifice for each of us, and in return make our commitment to His church for 2020.

December 1st

  • 10:30 a.m.

December 15th

  • “His Story in Song”
  • 10:30 a.m.

Karen Romero will lead the choir in presenting “His Sto-ry in Song”. How blessed we are to have many share their gift of music and His message in a unique way. We will also light the JOY candle for this is a blessed day filled with just that, His JOY! Following worship, our church family will gather in Kenyon Hall for a light luncheon and time of fellowship.

December 20th “

  • All Are Invited, ” 3 to 7 p.m.

I personally would like to invite each of you to stop by my home at 47 Worcester Drive and join me for a cup of soup and sandwiches as we gather as friends and sing a few carols. Everyone is asked to bring a favorite “cookie” to share as our dessert. Please, YOUR PRES-ENCE IS MY GIFT, so please no token gifts.

I suggest you either park on the street as you enter Worcester by my home (I have a nativity in the front yard) OR make the left before my unit towards the pool sign and park in the spots on the right behind my town-house. You can then come through on the deck. If you need to park in my driveway, in front of my garage, there are two spots available.

December 22nd

  • Oh How He Loves You and Me”
  • 10:30 a.m.

Come worship and prepare for Christmas Day as we look at the “Love of Jesus” and enjoy music selections and a sermon to “warm your heart”!

December 23rd

  • “Christmas Eve, Eve Service”
  • 7:00 p.m.

This year we will hold our traditional Candlelight Christ-mas Eve, Eve Service on December 23rd. This is always a favorite night in the life of Preakness and to allow our families to enjoy time together on Christmas Eve, have moved it to the 23rd. It is also a perfect time to bring your family to church.

December 29th

  • “Are you Ready for the New Year?”
  • 10:30 a.m.

We will close our year in worship in the Holy Grounds Café. Don’t miss this casual worship service with the opportunity to reflect on the year and our blessings surrounded by our church family.

  • “O Come Let Us Adore Him” together!
  • Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas! Pastor Jane

P.S. Yes, I am using the same letter for our December newsletter and the separate mailing to be sure you will join us for the Thanksgiving and Christmas season!
